I grew up to the business in times when nearly everything was made manually. My first poster was to paint an outdoor billboard with weatherproof colours and text Helvetica with a maulstick. The images were enlarged manually with a colposcope. The texts were set into composing sticks, matrices were made etc. Then there was a more refined stage also for photo processing. I was learning at Litokuva-Hiltunen for a week when I compiled the praised Study of Black Marketing for A-Lehdet. The study was about image processing. As years have passed by, I have developed few photo processing techniques that have helped remarkably in drafting. I even learned to master a few text types for drafting. Sometimes even the customers were wondering when I wrote Grotesque or Antiqua with a felt pen on the flap board.
